In 2006, Donald J. Trump set his eyes to Scotland, the home country of his mother Mary MacLeod. He dreamed to create the greatest golf course the world has ever seen. The presence of Trump came with grandiose promises to make Scotland great again (he even made hats that said “MAKE SCOTLAND GREAT AGAIN”). Trump purchased land approximately 216 miles away from where his mother even lived. It was there that he began his process to seek out all the land around the Menie Estate near Aberdeen, Scotland in order to build his golf course.
Through a complex false narrative Trump was able to capture the support of Scottish Parliament to approve this blatant exploitation of valuable land and the displacement of local residents. The level of exploitation sought out in Scotland by Donald Trump is not too different from what has happened in the United States. Those that challenge Donald Trump and his administration or do not fit into his ethnocentric ideology are dealt with in a brute manner. Just as the farmers, fishers, and landowners of Scotland were for defending what was theirs.
This piece means to share the story of those still fighting against Donald Trump. Despite the media suppression, the false narratives, the harassment, and destruction of their way of life for his. It is my hope that for those that may see this, especially those that voted for Donald Trump, to understand that he is not here to make the United States great again. If anything I hope that their stories serve as an inspiration for all of us. One to where we will never give up in these times of turmoil and we never stop searching for the truth.
